Vanuit de schaduwen klinken flarden van romantische natuurliederen. In het maanlicht komen hybride wezens tevoorschijn.
ATMEN is een experiment in speculatieve fictie. Door cycli en cycli, transformeert alles voortdurend. Wat brokkelt af, wat blijft en wat groeit er bovenop? Het gebruikt de schouwburg als een overgroeide ruïne waarin bacteriën, schimmels, flora en fauna vruchtbare bodem vinden. Een levende ruimte waarin een collectieve transformatie plaatsvindt.
ATMEN is de tweede voorstelling van de trilogie RITUALS OF TRANSFORMATION waarin Beutler op zoek gaat naar een nieuwe balans tussen mens, dier, plant, fungus en technologie. In het eerste deel, GINKGO, namen we afscheid van de door mensen gemaakte wereld. In ATMEN kijken we juist vooruit en verbeelden we een nieuwe toekomst.
Over het gezelschap/de maker:
Nicole Beutler Projects realiseert de interdisciplinaire en beeldende voorstellingen en initiatieven van choreografisch theaterkunstenaar en artistiek leider Nicole Beutler. De projecten worden gedreven vanuit het verlangen naar een betere samenleving. Beutler nodigt met al haar activiteiten uit tot een kritische reflectie op het menselijke bestaan.

Het gezelschap werkt vanuit een filosofie waarin non-hiërarchische samenwerking, 'slow production', langetermijnvisie en zorg voor de hele mens en de planeet centraal staan. Vanuit deze waarden wordt gebouwd aan een divers en inclusief gezelschap.

ATMEN is the second performance of the trilogy RITUALS OF TRANSFORMATION in which Beutler goes in the search for a new balance between man, animal, plant, fungus and technology. In the first part, GINKGO, we said goodbye to the man-made world. In ATMEN, we look forward and collectively imagine a new future.
