Ravel, Strauss, Stravinsky

Carried along by rhythm, capers and dramatic orchestral colours, a programme of iconic orchestral works unfolds. Ravel's Bolero begins with a simple flute motif and a rhythmic ostinato on the snare drum. Slowly, the orchestra builds a mesmerising crescendo, in which the repeating theme is passed from instrument to instrument.

Richard Strauss' Till Eulenspiegels lustige Streiche gives voice to the pranks of the rogue Till Eulenspiegel through a rich palette of orchestral colours. In four episodes, the orchestra follows Till's antics, from his cheeky jokes to the tragic climax, with the rondo form and satirical effects supporting a humorous narrative.


Stravinsky's Petrushka tells the story of three puppets brought to life, set to rhythmically energetic music. The orchestra paints the emotions and conflicts of Petrushka, the Ballerina and the Moor through bitonality and sharp rhythmic contrasts, making the theatrical action tangible through sound alone. Immerse yourself in a programme full of rhythm, humour and vivid orchestral music.
