Our co-productions

As well as the productions we create ourselves, you’ll also see productions by other creators to which we contribute. These are our co-productions. In the coming theatre season, for example, this includes the production SOEKARNO by Bo Tarenskeen, featuring the actress Esther Scheldwacht.

How do you relate to the system?

 

Eric de Vroedt, our artistic director: “How do you relate, as an individual, to a system that ignores you, harms you, or tries to keep you small: do you give up, go along with it, or bend it to your will? That question lies at the heart of our productions this season. Three pieces take place in the world of politics: in Richard III and Soekarno, two figures move from the margins to the centre of power, only to take on autocratic traits once they get there. In Mefisto, an artist flexibly adapts to a rising dictatorship, only to be absorbed by it in the end. In Big Pharma, the clash between individual and system plays out in the world of healthcare, where justified resistance tips over into wild conspiracy thinking. In Meeuw, a younger generation collides with their parents, who sabotage every attempt at change.”
