I acted alone with the protection of my mothers’ mothers, my great-grandmothers and their great-grandmothers carried and protected me. I have shown and made the most powerful in these systems feel and fear me. Now they know how powerful I am, thanks to God.

Which of women’s roles in society that have been erased can we revive, and which buried cries will be heard?

SHRINE is an immersive theater performance about grief, anger, and radical resistance in a capitalist world. The main character, The Daughter, seeks refuge with the Jinns—non-human beings—in a world parallel to our own. Her Mother was brutally murdered by systems perpetuated by people and powers. After years of fighting for a fair trial and justice, she is exhausted. The Jinns welcome her into their SHRINE, where her grief and anger are celebrated and given full space to exist and express themselves without restraint. There is remembrance, prayer, singing, sacrifice, and celebration. Through critical fabulation, El Kharraz Alami speculates on a future that has already begun.
