Double bill: SICKHOMELAND & To Break Up With I

SICKHOMELAND and To Break Up With I' form the first two chapters from the serie Homeland Allergy, researching artistic practices that deconstruct nationalist and Zionist mechanisms and narratives as a way to generate forms of resistance.

SICKHOMELAND invites the audience to take a seat within a shared stage-land. A solo body wanders among them, expelling liquid and drawing a map that retraces the disappearance of Palestine under the Israeli regime. Echoes of political slogans pass through the body, exposing intimate rituals to counteract violence. The body becomes both archive and protest. Movement and voice practices are knitting together anger, pain, grief, and the wish to cure from the state mechanism that makes this body-land sick.

To Break Up With I’ is an intimate performance staging Naama Shoshana Fogiel Lewin’s break-up ceremony with her homeland, Israel. Through a sensitive web of memory narration – using movement, recordings, readings, and paper – it uncovers the ways zionist militarism is inherited and embodied. Navigating between personal and collective consciousness, politics, and the imaginary, it forms an urgent and honest attempt to rethink one’s belonging to a state.

The performance space opens up as an interactive installation, where the audience can read or listen to a collection of break-up letters from the artists, the artist’s family and the international ex-Israeli community - or even take to writing ‘homeland letters’ themselves.
