June lives an invisible life in a cabin deep in the American South. Surrounded by woods, she spends her days glued to the TV, until the signal starts to glitch. With static on our heels, we speed through a dreamlike American landscape of TV psychics, takeout burritos, misty motel rooms and ghosts from the past.

'Toen ik als kind te maken kreeg met de dood, nam ik als antwoord op de leegte mijn toevlucht in fantasie. Geleidelijk aan is escapisme mijn tweede natuur geworden. In Junebug zien we June de televisie in vluchten, haar new-age moeder Barb belt wekelijks met tv-medium Magic Tina, en die gelooft op haar beurt weer alleen in transacties.
