Step into the courtroom.

The defendant: a woman with too many addresses and no place to call home. The setting: Amsterdam, where finding a roof is like chasing the Holy Grail.

In Home Sweet Home, writer and performer Başak Layiç turns the housing crisis into a biting courtroom drama. She stands accused of a serious crime. Of course she didn’t do it, but to prove it, she will take you through the living arrangements that chipped away at her humanity, one lease at a time.

Between personal testimony, projected “evidence,” and the cold verdicts of the law, she exposes the absurd survival tactics behind every so-called "home:" the quiet breakdowns, the passive aggressive notes, the stolen toilet paper...

Too many moves. One final mistake. The performance asks: How far would you go to have a home?
