Everything ordinary becomes extraordinary in VO-LU-ME, which offers the very youngest children, aged 1.5 to 3 years, their first introduction to theater. Karlijn Hamer and Bram van Helden take the audience step by step into their imagination. After the performance, everyone's eyes and ears are sharp. All hands are itching, and all feet are tapping. Then, the children, together with their parents and caregivers, are invited to join in and play on the floor. Because playing together and marveling at the world is the most fun thing there is.

In their pocket, Karlijn and Bram find a small piece of fabric that grows larger with each unfolding. So large that you can even disappear into it. With this piece of fabric, Karlijn and Bram fill the entire space. From flat to round, and from empty to full. Sometimes you feel super small, and then moments later, very big. The fabric becomes a tent to whisper in or a tall tower where they can't resist the urge to sing: very softly and wonderfully loud!

Actor Bram van Helden finds a source of wonder about life in the most ordinary things. This aligns perfectly with the world of toddlers and their parents. For Karlijn Hamer, toddlers and young children are the ideal audience: "They watch with their entire body, and everything has the potential to be elevated to theater by them."
