For more than forty years, until her death in 1920, Olive Schreiner worked on what was to become her greatest novel: From Man to Man. She had previously gained fame as a feminist, anti-racist pioneer and chronicler of South African social mores. In 1926, the book was published in an unfinished version. Now, nearly a century later, it has been rediscovered by J.M. Coetzee. He decided to edit the novel and provided the story with a moving ending.
The conversation will also touch on Life & Times of Elizabeth Costello, featuring both previously published and brand-new Costello stories selected by the author. This new book will be released around the time of this event in October.
